The Portfolio
The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.
The Designer - John McConnell
A Pentagram Partner since 1974, John is involved in all areas of graphic design for a broad range of clients. This has been complemented by design consultancy since 1984, when he was appointed Design Consultant to Boots and a member of the company's Design Executive. From 1983 until 1990 he was also a board director with responsibility for design at Faber & Faber. He is a non-executive director of Cosalt Plc and is a member of the Royal Mail Stamp Advisory Committee. John has won many international awards including gold and silver D&ADs and the President's Award for outstanding contribution to design. He served as President of D&AD in 1986, is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale, a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers and of the Royal Society of Arts and is a Royal Designer for Industry.
