The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.
The Designer - Andre Francois
Born in Timisoara (Rumania) in 1915. After studying at the School of Fine Arts in Budapest, he moves to France in 1934 and trains at Cassandre's School. Then, he settles in the countryside, where he has been living since 1945. Andre Frangois regularly collaborates with the foreign Press: Punch, Graphis, The New Yorker... as well as with the French one: la Tribune des Nations, Le Monde...
He designs many book covers, takes part in advertising campaigns: Citroen and le Nouvel Observateur, and creates numerous film posters: le Bal des vampires, Max mon amour... and theatre posters: stage settings and costumes for the opera houses of Paris and London. He has held many personal exhibitions: Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, 1967, Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, 1970, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, 1986 and various museums in Japan, 1995.
Main awards National First Prize of Graphic Arts, Paris. Honorary doctor of the Royal College of London. Gold medal from the Arts Directors Club, New York. Since 1960, Andre Frangois has been mainly involved in painting and sculpture.
