Between 1894 and 1914, Misti designed over a hundred posters for various subjects. His most famous were for bicycles, department stores and publications, one of which we see here. For the newspaper "La Critique" he has chosen to portray a lovely young woman reading her paper at a windowsill, a skyline in the background. Soft yellows and browns set the tone with a hint of blue in the sky. Misti employs a finished drawing style with an elegant Nouveau typeface for the title. The atmosphere he invokes invites us to read and relax.
