"Cheret executed several posters for this popular establishment, always with a delightful young woman in the spotlight, accompanied by the shadowy figure of a gentleman in the background. What we learn from all the designs is that women where able to enjoy indoor skating in full street clothes, including elaborate hats, coats, and capes" (Gold p.90)

"This magnificent Palais de Glace design features the charms of an enravishing skater whose sunny disposition all but melts the ice. Charles Matlack Price notes that "The motion of the 'Palais de Glace' posters needs only the music to which the carefree skaters disport themselves, gracefully balanced like birds on the wing, or with tantalizing smile and beckoning arm, enticing the beholder to join them (p.22)" (Rennert, PAI-XXX, 160)
