The Portfolio

 

The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.

 

The Designer - Shigeo Fukuda

 

1932 - Born February 4 in Tokyo, Japan. 1956 - Graduated from the design department of Tokyo National University of Arts and Music. 1967 - Selected at the Japan Expo'70 Official Poster Competition. 1972 - Awarded gold prize in the Warsaw International Poster Biennale. 1979 - Awarded silver prize in the Colorado International Poster Design. 1980 - Awarded silver prize in the Brno international Graphic Design Biennale. 1983 - Awarded silver prize in the Lahti International Poster Design. 1985 - Awarded first prize in the Moscow International Poster Biennale. 1987 - Awarded New York ADC: Hall of Fame. 1972 - Personal exhibition 'Shigeo Fukuda - 150 Posters', the Poster Museum in Wilanow, Poland. Awarded Grand Prix in Helsinki International Poster Biennale. Awarded Grand Prix Savignac in Paris International Poster Exhibition. 1996 - Selected at the Lisbon Expo'98 Ofeical Pictograms and Signs, international invitation competition. 1997 - Personal exhibition 'An artist of visual wit', the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. 1999 - Personal exhibition 'Visual prankster: Shigeo Fukuda', the Japan Foundation, Toronto, Canada. 2000 - Personal exhibition 'Magicien de I'affiche', TIRE de design de I'UQAM, Montreal, Canada. 2001 - Personal exhibition 'The master series', Visual Art Museum, New York, USA.
